The All Saints’ Sisters of the Poor left the Episcopal Church for the Roman Catholic Church two years ago. By a decree from the Vatican, they are now an official diocesan priory, or order, the same designation carried by the School Sisters of Notre Dame or the Daughters of Charity.
“We feel we have broken ground,” said Mother Christina Christie, leader of the community and a nun since 1966.

French Catholics protest!

While much of the Catholic press seems to be focussing on the scandal in Assisi, there is in Paris, France, right now, a more extraordinary event occurring. While Assisi III/IV is a vile affront to the First Commandment, it is really more "business as usual" and besides, as far as I can see, their weren't any Catholics present at the assembly ...

On the other hand, in Paris, Catholic youth, many of them from the S.S.P.X-affiliated Civitas Institute, are heroically opposing a blasphemous play by Romeo Castelluci where an old man who has to have his excrement cleaned up by his son in front of an enormous portrait of Our Lord Jesus Christ, on which the exrement is then thrown. There is also reportedly a scene where children throw hand-grenades at the same portrait proclaiming "you are not our shepherd!"

In the face of this, young Catholics are coming out in force to pray on the sidewalk and protest this outrage. This is truly inspiring, and humbling, Catholic action. It started with a dozen or so members of "Renouveau Francais" who bought tickets and disrupted the blasphemy by climbing onto the stage. They were beaten by riot police and arrested for their troubles.

Below is a clip from French television yesterday evening, featuring priests from St.-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet ...

As I've been able to peice-together the events with my very rusty French, it seems that after the initial actions of Renouveau Francais, the arestees were replaced the next night (25 October) by about 140 Catholics including the trads and members of L'Action Français. Reportedly, there were more than 300 on the 26th (cf. the clip embedded above) and I have not yet been able to find out how many were present tonight. Fr. de Caqueray in his communiqué of 26 October, reported that the police response was to "[arrest] by the busload". Below is another video showing the police doing just that:

Of course, as the mainstream media tells us "French authorities on Saturday said they would press charges against Christian fundamentalists who disrupted the showing of [the] controversial play ..." Well, it is nothing unusual for the media to brand true followers of Christ as "fundamentalists". God bless these brave defenders of Christ! Despite the threat of beatings and arrest at the hands of the police, the numbers have increased each night to protest this outrage.

I wish I could join them! This is truly an inspiration. Shamefacedly, many of us must likely confess that similar (perhaps less vile) productions have been put on in places we live with no one to oppose them. Indeed, I don't think we can say that such protests that are so large and successful as to force the liberal media to report in it has happened before. This is an important act in the war to renew Christendom.

TODAY, Oct. 22, 2011 Pilgramage to STARKENBURG, MO

On Pilgrimage to Starkenburg, 2011...

For those who went on the Starkenburg Pilgrimage, you knew it was a day of obstruction by Jefferson City diocese, Jefferson City, Missouri. Starkenburg Shrine had chains with locks to keep us out, beefy, aggressive female guards at 8:00am in the morning, you know, the usual makings of a sedate, conflict-avoidant group of traditional catholics. After a variety of obfuscations, nonetheless, after 12 miles of penance after being told that we could not have Mass at the Shrine for the first time in 13 years, we did have Mass. The boys from St. Mary's, the Knights of Immaculata, led by Fr. Borbeau, after praying outside the gate, went past the macho but female-gendered, well-prepared guards who were not going to let a few hundred traditional catholics desecrate the the Starkenburg Shrine, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, by, gasp- having a Latin Mass by 600 faithful who have just walked 12 miles and 5 hrs praying and doing penance. A full afternoon of civil disobediance resulted in young men walking past the uber-scary guards, followed shortly thereafter, by the civilized boys of LaSallette. Oh, so much more could be said, the bottom line is that Mass was said, despite every effort before hand and during to prevent it. The sherrif, a county trooper, and a police SUV, there may have been more, were not enought to prevent what had been done for the previous 13 years.

Is that not enough for you Catholics, simply observing traditional practices, going back centuries- penance, pilgrimage, prayer, Rosaries, Mass, it happens despite modern attempts to prevent it? How could this happen? By law abiding citizens who would never break the law?

However, there is a coda. Most had left the shrine except for some Francisican sisters, including the Mother Superior who is arthritic and elderly. Cars were not allowed to park on the grounds, but only, illegally by Highway P. She could not walk that far, so a minivan, illegally drove onto the lot, to be stopped by the thin, blond official obstructionist, who stopped the minivan by standing in front of it and screaming at the driver. My daughter was asked to go ask the state trooper if he could help in this situation: elderly and incapacitated, unable to walk, but don't let the minivan drive up to get her. She went and talked to him who said, "get in my car". he drove up, picked up the Mother Superior, drove her to the van, in front of the blond, strict constructionist who would allow no trespassing, and let her out right by the door of the minivan, an illegal intruder into the sacrosanct grounds of Starkenburg, defiled by the hundreds of feet of Catholics praying, kneeling, and singing at a Catholic shrine. I realize that this should be more appropriatedly titled "Occupy Starkenburg".

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Some Jewish groups voiced concern Friday that the Vatican might be calling into question more than 40 years of progress in Catholic-Jewish relations by reaching out to a group of breakaway traditionalist Catholics that includes a Holocaust-denying bishop.

The Vatican has been working for years to bring the breakaway Society of St. Pius X back into its fold, and this week told its members they must accept some core church teachings if they want to be fully reintegrated into the church. But the Holy See said some expressions contained in documents from the Second Vatican Council could be left open for "legitimate discussion."

The 1962-65 Vatican II meetings brought modernizing reforms to the Catholic Church, including outreach to Jews and introduction of the Mass in the vernacular rather than Latin. The Swiss-based Society of St. Pius X was formed in 1969, opposed to many of Vatican II's reforms.

The Vatican refused to say which core teachings the society must accept to be reintegrated, and which elements of Vatican II documents could be left open for discussion.

A key Vatican II document, Nostra Aetate, revolutionized the Catholic Church's relations with Jews by declaring that Christ's death couldn't be attributed to Jews as a whole. Other Vatican II teachings to which the society objects concern religious freedom and ecumenical relations.

The uncertainty over what is being required of the society provoked unease among some Jewish groups, which issued veiled warnings Friday about the possible impact on Vatican-Jewish relations were Nostra Aetate and other Vatican II teachings to be now considered ripe for discussion.

Abraham Foxman, the Anti-Defamation League's U.S. director, said he was confident that Pope Benedict XVI would require the society to accept the church's "positive teachings" about Jews before being fully reconciled with the church.

"It would be unthinkable for the Vatican to allow a Catholic breakaway sect that includes a Holocaust-denying bishop, Richard Williamson, to be reintegrated into the church while still being allowed to promote anti-Semitism and anti-Judaism," he said in a statement.

Elan Steinberg of the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants, said there would be "catastrophic effects" on Catholic-Jewish relations if the Vatican didn't require the society to accept the document.

"We mustn't allow the moral imperative of Catholic-Jewish amity to fall victim to a policy of appeasement or blithe expediency," he said in a statement.

Even Rabbi David Rosen, who heads the American Jewish Committee's interreligious affairs office and is a veteran of Catholic-Jewish dialogue, said he was worried about the Vatican's gesture and awaited further clarification.

"If 'Nostra Aetate' and 'Lumen Gentium' (another Vatican II document) are not considered fundamental doctrines of the Church, and it is possible to question them without challenging the authority of the church, then we (and not just Jewish-Catholic relations) are in for a very rough ride ahead," he said in an email.

The society's superior, Bishop Bernard Fellay, has said he would study the two-page document of core church teachings handed over to him by the Vatican and respond.

The German-born Benedict has worked for two decades, as pope and as cardinal, to bring the group back into the Vatican's fold, eager to prevent further schism and the expansion of a parallel church.

Benedict, who has won praise from Jews for his decades of outreach, nevertheless provoked outrage in 2009 when he lifted the excommunication of Williamson, who denied gas chambers were used during the Holocaust. Williamson, Fellay and three other bishops were excommunicated in 1988 after the society's founder consecrated them without papal consent.

The society has six seminaries, three universities and 70 primary and secondary schools around the globe. Aside from the four bishops, it boasts more than 550 priests and 200 seminarians.

PLUM

In orchard of
Peach and cherry
Apple, pear and plum

Children ran and
Played so merry
Picking fruit from some

Apple, peach
Cherry, pear
Bade the children come

But one tree
Kept limbs up high
She was the purpled plum

Between her branches
Green with leaves
She was morose and glum

From childrens' hands
She higher heaves
Her boughs and she stays mum

For she has smooth-skinned
Juicy fruit
Royal purpled that was from

The way she rooted
In her dirt
Proud plum in orchard slum

Then end of autumn
Peach and cherry
Apple, pears they hum

Their burdened branches
Light and airy
For sacrificed their sum

But oh the royal
Purpled plum
She croons sad runes and tunes

Her held-high limbs
Baked in the sun
Dried rot with shriveled prunes.

Can lure from dreams

For I’ve six sons,
Lots of work to do,
But they won’t budge
If I fry tofu.

No soybean-sissies,
Caught dead eating quiche,
This mama don’t raise
No sensitives…sheesh!

I’m raisin’ men
For women who’s achin’.
So girls if ya want one…

VINEYARD

Disease has crept
Along the branch
Rotting from within

A pestilence
And blackened stench
Mold that smells like sin

And in a crook
On branch near Vine
There are some plants who sit

Preferring Vine
Accepting branch
Their leaves and stems are split

But years ago
A faithful farmer
Grafted growths to Vine

Broke from branches
Twisted cracked
"These shoots I know are mine."

And to this day
Forever more
To Vine these stalks adhere

Branching churches
Priest and schools --
Glistening grapes appear!

A
FATHER

Once, there was a father,
Who loved his little girl.
He held her hand and walked to Mass
So she could see the Pearl.

“My darling, there is silver,
My darling, there is gold,
But the greatest price is sacrifice,
The world keeps that untold.

The world can give you silver,
With gold, it can entice.
Diamond, topaz, rubies,
But none can match Pearl’s price.

Sacrifice, gave birth to you.
Sacrifice, it fed.
Sacrifice, it guided you.
Sacrifice, it bled.

For every drop of blood He shed,
Gave us the faith to trust.
And made us rich in sacrifice
To give you Bread not crust.

And for awhile, sometimes, we stray,
Believing not in Creeds.
But when things don’t sustain our souls
Then turn to Pearl that bleeds.”

Failing, father said he wished,
“For every time…a penny,”
He heard the daily words, so rich,
“…be shed for you and many.”

The little girl, she cried,
Raining on his bed a flood.
But father saw her sacrifice,
“Your tears are crystal blood.”

Once there was a father,
Who loved his little girl.
He held her hand for his last Mass
But left her with…the Pearl.
