THERELUCTANT
ACCOUNTANT
I see God
In fruit and earth
And every soul
I’ve helped to birth.
I hear God
In silent times
Then enhanced
When Church bell chimes.
I taste God
In water from springs
When sins absolved
Sanctified-soul sings.
I smell God
In the wax from His bees
Burning with truth
That brings all to their knees.
I touch God
When confessed, tongue clean
My heart skips a beat
At the paten’s gold sheen.
Everywhere’s God
The plain becomes wonders
But where, oh where
Is God in numbers?
