Fr. Daniel Couture said:

"It is worth recalling the wise rules of St Ignatius for the Discernment of Spirits, especially the 2nd and 5th rules. The 2nd describes how the devil tempts good souls. The classic signs are: anxiety (ex. what if... ? panic attacks, etc.), sadness, obstacles, false reasons, trouble, and discouragement. We do find all these signs at present in our ranks. It means the devil is nearby “as a roaring lion seeking whom to devour”."

OF
BRIGADES
AND
BRIGANDS

The fife and drum
Another did come
Wearing his jaunty beret -

They held down their thumb
At the Conductor's hushed hum
For him they would not play -

The Conductor did urge
"It is not a dirge
Should be music a balm for each nerve" -

But the fife and drum surge
With beret he did merge
The Conductor's baton they'd not serve -

So alone on their way
A brigade gone astray
They'll play and recite their sad rune -

Not seizing the day
In Mary's month May
Please pray that these brigands change tune!
