BOLD
ARE
THE
BLUFFS
“The heavens show forth the glory of God: and the firmament declareth the works of His hands.” (Psalm 18)
Bold are the bluffs
Of the Mississippi
Bold is the rock
That stands in place.
He who prepared them
Upon the river
A generation
Before His Face.
In the winter
Ripped and ruined,
In the winter
Bleak and bare,
Then comes June
The leaves, all grew in,
Then comes June
Green in prayer.
Tabernacle sun
In the sky
Clouds cast shadows
Rushing by
Ascending bluffs
Gorged in green
Fifty-thousand
Shades are seen.
Bold are the bluffs
Of the Mississippi
Bold are the hands
That anoint in grace
Bold are the bluffs,
These men of Christ,
Mississippi men
The River, embrace!
