THE
EAGLES
OF
WINONA
From the majestic bluffs
Of the Mississippi
Farewell Winona, oh!
Where eagles soar
And never leave
Winona’s men must go.
Their home nests sit
High up in trees
Along the river’s shore,
Every season
Whether calm and blue
Or when cold and gray, she’ll roar.
For God ordained
Winona’s eagles
Their fill of fish from deep,
But Winona’s men,
Out grown their nest,
Towards east, in faith, must leap.
For God ordained
Winona’s men
To multiply fish for His sheep,
In a bigger nest,
To the Fisherman’s Breast,
Soaring high for souls to keep,
Where eagles soar
And never leave
Winona’s men must go,
The river, the bluff,
Harsh winters made tough,
These men of Christ, to grow!!
