ON
BRICK
CHURCH
ROAD
I walked up gravelly,
Brick Church Road,
Where sits a red,
Brick, chapel.
Inside, all musty,
Spider-webbed,
A gray-brown
Sort of dapple.
Then I saw
The window panes,
Where sunlight
Streamed clear, rays,
It bade me, come,
Glance through and see
Why we must
Thank and praise.
For, from this little,
Red, brick, chapel’s
Windows paned
In glass,
I spied a valley,
Emerald-green
With emerald-green,
Plush, grass.
My soul was caught
In ecstasy,
What sights this
Chapel showed…
But once she’s Catholic,
All jewels fade,
Fore Gold
On Brick Church Road.
