What a weekend! Our Parish/Academy hosted a midwest Soccer/Volleyball Tournament for other Traditional Roman Catholic Schools in the midwest and I cooked the dinner for about 200 hungry people. It's a wonder to be able to all get together, cheer on your teams and see the Priests leading all in prayer before each match. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 was a glorious gathering of Catholics "running the good race"....but I am pooped!OCTOBER
ELEVENTH
Volleyball, soccer,
What a day of fun.
Plenty of food
For everyone!
Hot dogs, chili,
A spread not shoddy
Old friends met
At the Porta-Potty!
The whistles blew,
We did not tarry,
To cheer our teams
On this Feast of Mary.
For our Mother of God,
Her Maternity day,
On soccer fields
The Priests did pray.
Then up and at 'em,
They kicked, they fought.
The girls they spiked
Some looked distraught.
But after games,
Back down in prayer,
Priests, boys, girls
Thanked Mother, fair.
And Christ our King,
With Mary, doles,
Blessing to you,
You giving souls.
Who helped to multiply
Fish and bread
Making the tournament
A First Class spread.
But next year’s plans?
I’m thinkin’ and smilin’ --
To be boozin’ and cruisin’
Towards a South Sea Island!
