that made the Pilgrimage Oct. 17, 2009.
We were locked out of the Chapel
and now, this year, the womens' lavatories.
"Hell hath no fury
Like a woman scorned..."
(especially from the lavatories!)
STARKENBURG'S
SHEEP
In the woods
A chapel of stone
Nearby I sat
Saying rosary alone.
The other pilgrims
Twelve miles at the start
They'd walk the whole day
To honor her Heart.
But then a woman
Well trousered and pantsed
Unlocked chapel door
And in her sheep pranced.
Then shutting door hard
She locked it up tight
Her long muscled strides
Past my skirt meant to spite.
Hurling herself into
Cab of her truck
A pharisaical sight
Bitter zeal she did suck.
For her herd she made first
Never last...that's the worst ---
But the last sheep of Starkenburg
Will always be first!
